This is the most common question we get here at the farm. I literally get asked this question daily and it is a great question. I mean, what can we really do with lavender essential oil? The short answer…everything!
Before I go into the details, let's talk about what an essential oil is. Let’s get scientific…
Essential oil is the concentrated liquid extracted from a plant by distillation. It is the “essence” of the plant, giving you the scent and herbal properties of the plant. In our case lavender!
Now, what can you do with it?
1. Diffuse it throughout your home
Add it to that cool device that you drop the oils into, that fill your rooms with a wonderful mist of essential goodness. Diffusing lavender during your morning routine is a great way to start your day off on the right foot, allowing you to feel calm and relaxed while preparing for the day ahead.
Or try a reed diffuser for a more subtle scent.
2. Roll it on with a carrier oil
A carrier oil is an oil that you blend with your lavender essential oil, allowing you to apply it directly to your skin. A few good carrier oils are coconut, jojoba, olive and sweet almond oil. This works great to ease tension in sore muscles and for massages. Or you can also apply this to your temples, feet, neck and wrists to aid in relaxation. It’s amazing for children and their sensitive skin. Our children do this just before their virtual learning each morning. Make your own or pick up one of our Calm Lavender Rollerball.
3. Take a luxurious Bath
Next time you are taking that well deserved bath, add in a few drops of lavender essential oil and a cup of epsom salts for a luxurious and calming effect. No time? Try the same blend for a foot bath!
4. Use it for sweet smelling laundry.
Ditch those dryer sheets! Instead, put a few drops of Lavender Essential oil onto a coffee filter and throw it in you’re dryer with the next load. One more way to eliminate additional chemicals from your family’s daily lives
Your nose, mind and soul with thank you for it. We can’t wait to see all your ideas and hear about the wonderful things you come up with!
